Musou Black VL Flock Sheet – super black fabric for visible light

A cost-effective superblack for visible light. Musou Black VL Flock Sheet is a rayon-based fabric electrostatically flocked with low-gloss nylon pile. It reaches 99.7 % light absorption – higher than Musou Black paint – and you can touch it.

Ordering and price

A4 sheets (without adhesive) are in stock – order directly on this page. The sheet ships in 1–3 working days and suits small jobs as it is, such as the inner surfaces of cameras and enclosures.

Metre goods, rolls and adhesive-backed versions are made to order: width 950 mm, lengths 1–10 m and a full 20 m roll, without adhesive or with adhesive backing. Lead time is 1–3 weeks. Tell us the length and version you need: request a quote for metre goods.

Choose the right application

VL does not suppress infrared. The manufacturer's 250–2500 nm measurement curve shows that reflectance is at its lowest around 550–700 nm and rises steeply after that – not gradually, but within a few tens of nanometres. In practice this means that near a red laser, red LED lighting or the NIR boundary, VL fails. The manufacturer also notes that when photographed with a camera sensitive across a wide wavelength range, VL may appear black with a reddish tint. If your application involves the NIR range, LiDAR or sensor development, choose IR Flock Sheet.

Manufacturer's note: the values are not guaranteed, and there can be slight variation between production lots. Figures marked with an approximation sign (≈) have been read from the manufacturer's measurement curve (August 2026).

Because of the flocking, fine fibre dust can come loose from the material. Take care if cleanliness is an absolute priority or the material goes inside a precision instrument. Creases can be steamed out without touching the surface with an iron.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dekoja.net an official importer?
Yes. Dekoja.net is the official importer of Musou Black products and Koyo Orient Japan's appointed distributor (Official Distributor) in Finland. You will find us on the manufacturer's own Distributors page. In practice this means the products come straight from the factory, their origin is verified, and we have the manufacturer's technical support and documentation available even for demanding projects.

How does VL differ from KIWAMI?
VL is more affordable and physically more durable (nylon pile), and you can touch it. KIWAMI is blacker (99.905 %). For most applications VL is more than enough; for maximum blackness choose KIWAMI.

Is an adhesive-backed version available?
Yes, as a made-to-order item: every size is also available with adhesive backing, lead time 1–3 weeks. The A4 sheets in stock are without adhesive. The adhesive version attaches directly to a clean, smooth surface with no separate glue.

Is VL suitable for infrared applications?
No. VL has no properties that suppress infrared reflection. For IR, LiDAR and NIR use choose IR Flock Sheet.

Is there an unusable edge on the roll?
The corners have an unflocked area of about 20 mm with perforations. That area is not included in the 950 mm effective width – take it into account in your cutting plan.
